While you were busy scarfing down your Auntie's specialty Nachos during the Super Bowl, the culture hounds at Stereotude were locked in the office with their eyes glued to the World Wide Web to make sure we brought you the quirkiest and quackiest of news from around the world of music. This is FYI:
Feline Fallacy: We've all been duped. According to Vulture, the Keyboard Cat who performed the era-defining halftime show of the Puppy Bowl X this past weekend was not in fact the original Keyboard Cat, but a replacement kitten. We think there's a menudo-type deal going on here…
Prince Gets Rinsed: The diminutive showstopper followed up his surprise turn on last night's episode of "New Girl" by releasing "Pretzelbodylogic," the first single off of his new album "PLECTRUMELECTRUM." The song sounds like Lenny Kravitz doing an AC/DC cover.
Bye Bye Benga: Dubstep pioneer and all-round bad man Benga has announced that he is getting engaged, starting a family, and quitting DJing. It's an ironic contrast that Benga's bestie Skream recently switched from spinning Dubstep to Disco, a genre that way more girls get down to. Benga has switched to the sound of nothing, which only one girl gets down to -- his fiancé.
Tweet Beef 2K14: Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos aimed a crosshair, just a crosshair (see what we did there?) at The Man Under The Hat a.k.a. Pharrell Williams on Twitter Friday, passive-aggressively accusing the world-beating producer of nicking a Franz riff for a recent Paloma Faith track. Pharrell said…nothing, and then Kapranos rescinded his initial statement and apologized. That's power. Hat power. (Via Rolling Stone)
Big Boi's Big Plans: Outkast's Big Boi has released a re-work of his track "CPU" with soul siren Sade providing some sultry vocals. This track sounds like 45-year-olds having really good sex. Chk-Chk-Check it:
