While the parodies of PSY’s “Gentleman” aren’t taking off with quite as much “oomph” as “Gangnam Style,” there’s no avoiding talking about this one. Jervy Hou put way too much effort into his rendition of the K-Pop sensation’s new single and the result is pretty amazing.
Hou directs and stars in the Internet feature. The story is your basic zombie apocalypse meltdown. End of the world scenarios unfold: carnage, violence, dance choreography… yeah. A mysterious cowboy comes to the rescue. Also, there’s an evil ninja and some assault weapon-wielding secret agent girls that don’t make a whole lot of sense.
It’s mostly just a group of friends taking it a little too seriously. Which, because it’s done so well, is a delight to watch.
The filmmaker should be commended for his crafty song-tweaking abilities and his use of hot women. Well done, sir.
