Bridgit Mendler is the next Miley Cyrus, she’s filling the void left over by Hillary Duff and she’s well on her way to enjoying Selena Gomez-level of fame. The next big singer/actress/teen icon to come out of the House of Mouse is Bridgit Mendler who stars on Disney show “Good Luck Charlie” and just released her debut album “Ready or Not” which has already racked up over 6 million views in it’s short time online.
Stereotude sat down for an exclusive interview with this hot new artist to find out what she really thinks of the other Disney alum like Miley and Demi, why she wants to be like Ryan Gosling, and her budding rap career?
Stereotude: We love “Ready or Not,” was it written about anyone in particular?
Bridgit Mendler: You know it’s not dedicated to anyone in particular. I honestly just wanted to write something that would be empowering for girls to go out there and go for it.
ST: What makes you more nervous, acting or singing?
BM: Singing in front of people. I think there is less control over my performance sometimes because when you’re out there singing live you have no idea how it’s going to turn out.
ST: What boy band are you crushing on right now? The Wanted or One Direction?
BM: ‘N Sync
ST: What song do you love that would shock your fan?
BM: I love the song “Shoop” by Salt-N Pepper. I know all the words! My friend and I learned the rap!
ST: Can we expect you to start rapping on an album anytime soon?
BM: I don’t want to do a spoiler alert, but there is a song that has a little bit of rapping on this album. It’s called hurricane and it wasn’t something that I was planning, it just kind of happened and I think that’s how rap should be. You just go with the flow.
ST: What do you think of Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and all the other Disney alumni before you?
BM: I think it’s so wonderful that they have been so successful with what they have done and they are all very talented. I think that we are all very different and we all have our own style musically and as people but it’s not bad company.
ST: Is there anyone you’d like to follow in the footsteps from Disney?
BM: I would love to follow in Ryan Gosling’s footsteps personally because he had his start on the Disney Channel and no one really knows because they know him from the work that he is doing currently. I’m a fan of his music too. I’ve gone to a few of his concerts too and he has a great musical style.
