R. Kelly was forced to cancel tour dates after he was raced to the hospital for emergency throat surgery.
His reps says he will be unable to perform for an indefinite period. What are we going to do if R. Kelly never makes music again? Who is going to hide out in closets, fight with their girlfriend and then play it over an R&B track?
Kelly complained of severe throat pain and was rushed to a Chicago hospital where an abscess on one of his tonsils was drained. That’s real talk.
Kelly just finished the US leg of his worldwide “Love Letter” tour, but it’s unsure when he will resume the rest of the tour. He already cancelled a show on Friday at the Reggae Sumfest festival in Jamaica.
Before he realized how serious his condition was he tweeted, “I feel like my throat is coming back. I’ve been in bed sweating like crazy. Thanks guys.”
R. Kelly is known for achieving fame in the early 90’s with songs like “I Believe I Can Fly,” he then incurred a stint of legal troubles when he was slapped with child pornography charges.
He then resurfaced in the 2000’s with music I like to refer to as “so serious it’s hysterical.” I’m talking about the “Trapped in the Closet” Saga as well as other little known gems like “Real Talk” where he yells at his girlfriend for getting her nails done or “Pregnant” where the backing vocals chant “knock you up” throughout the hook.
