Ricky Martin: Why I Was Terrified to Come Out of the Closet

When Ricky Martin came out of the closet, the entire world collectively sighed and thought, ‘finally’. It was pretty much the world’s worst kept secret, but he admits he was still terrified to come out.

He said: "Being Ricky Martin back then and what I was feeling were not compatible. I was the sex symbol and I needed to dance and I needed to make girls crazy and I couldn't say that I was gay. It was a lot of struggle.

"If you add to that whether you call it culture, religion, society but what I was feeling, according to what I had in my mind, was evil and I'm very lucky today that what I have in my mind is love and I'm very happy."

The day he stepped out in a Speedo and a rainbow beach towel with a greased up gorgeous man was the day we had confirmation that he was gay. And we never once thought any less of him.

When he finally did come out, he said he was shocked how little people cared. Honey, it’s because we had known for years!

Gay or straight, Ricky is still one sexy piece of a**. His dance moves and ripped abs still get me hot, regardless of his sexual preference. I’d still want to la vida loca with him.
