Green's spokesperson said: "He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to 'The Voice,' on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book, he feels that he wouldn't give his fans the show that they deserve."
A book? We don't want to read, we want to dance to songs like F-ck You and….whatever other songs Cee Lo has.
Hollyscoop spoke to Cee-Lo earlier this month and he seemed excited about the tour. "I did something a little different [this time]," he told Hollyscoop. "I really utilized a lot of dynamics in terms of lighting and visuals and it's an imagery and an approach that I hadn't yet to use. It's very exciting because it's a new creative space for me. So, you can expect to be entertained by that very thoroughly."
Adding: "On the few occasions that I've met her, [Rihanna] is very down to earth and very kind and receptive to me. So that's kind of all I'm able to judge her from. She seems to be a very sweet girl."
So much for being entertained by his creativity.
Rihanna performed at L.A.'s Staples Center on Tuesday Night, kicking the show off with Only Girl in the World. Rihanna's Loud tour will travel the U.S. through July 24, and then it's off to Europe, finally wrapping up in December. Rihanna announced via Twitter that Green will be replaced by rapper J. Cole, who was already on the road for the tour.
"#GOODNEWS @JColeNC is our new official opener!" Rihanna Tweeted on Tuesday night. " "@CeeLoGreen will no longer be a part of #LOUDtour due 2 commitment with 'The Voice' #Cantmissit."
Cole is a protégé of Jay-Z and is releasing his debut album on September 27. Fans were apparently disappointed at Cee-Lo's absence, but no doubt they'll learn to love J. Cole.
