Jay-Z and Kanye may be known for breaking the rules. Just not their own…
But that’s exactly what happened on a London stop of their Watch the Throne tour. The hip-hop duo went against their rules and invited Rihanna up on stage to perform with them.
“We got Jay-Z in this bitch, Yeezy in this bitch, and Rihanna in this bitch,” Kanye announced. Throwing fans for a loop, the crowd went nuts.
The change of plans came on their third performance at the O2 arena in England. After Jay-Z and Kanye summoned Rihanna to the stage, the now trio performed Kanye’s “My Twisted Fantasy,” “Run This Town” and “All of the Lights.”
Rihanna’s journey in the rare appearance was documented on the singer’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.
“#RihannaNAVi made historih tonight as the first person to Watch The Throne AND join it!!! No one is allowed on that stage! Thank u guys,” tweeted Rihanna.
The album Watch the Throne was released in August of 2011. Like its title suggests, it debuted on top, selling 500,000+ copies in its first week.
Jay-Z and Ye’s tour will continue its European run through June, stopping in Ireland, France, Sweden and Germany. It’s unsure if Rihanna – or anyone else for that matter – will pop up again to break some more rules.
