Move over J.Lo. There’s a new pop star sensation hitting the silver screen.
After her debut role as Raikes in the upcoming 2012 blockbuster, Battleship, Rihanna will return in the equally visually dynamic franchise The Fast And The Furious, where she star in the sixth film alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin “friggin” Diesel.
Not bad for her first two movies…
Though we’re all anxiously waiting before we can feast our eyes on the much-hyped Battleship, according to the UK’s The Sun, the newfound actress really packs a punch.
“Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship,” a source told The Sun. “Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life.”
Fast cars, heists, explosion, and a hot Barbadian co-star Rihanna…
Besides being ever guy’s dream-come-true, filmmakers feel that the role in the streetcar racing series will act as a stepping-stone for Rihanna to even bigger action flicks.
Picking up where Fast Five left off, the next Fast film will take to the streets of London this time. During the London Summer Olympics, production will move northeast to Essex. Fast veteran Justin Lin will return to the series to direct number 6.
But no rest for the weary! Production is scheduled to begin next month, which will overlap with a European tour Rihanna is currently finishing up. Her last date is scheduled for July 8 in Hyde Park, UK.
