Rihanna performed 4 of her hit songs this morning in NYC at Rockefeller Plaza for the Today Show.
Rihanna begins her performance by singing “S&M” out in the streets of NYC surrounding Rockefeller plaza.
She struts her way to the outdoor stage as her dancers join her performance, one by one, acting all swag, and flanking her sides like a crew of Secret Services members.
As the Rihanna/dancer procession makes it’s way to the stage an enthusiastic fan grabs Rihanna and pulls her against the barricade that’s supposed to separate the non-famous from the famous.
One of Rihanna’s girl back-up dancers freaks out for a second “Am I supposed to help her? This wasn’t choreographed!” However, Rihanna is a pro and continues to sing even as she is being held captive for 1.5 seconds by some crazy 13 year old in a shirt that says “chains and whips excite me!” Kidding. I have no idea what the t-shirt said.
Rihanna and posse finally make it to the stage where Rihanna performs the rest of “S&M”, “Only Girl (In The World),” and “What’s My Name.” As the camera pans around to grab audience reactions, please note the crowd is entirely teenage girls and all of fleet week, looking very out-of-place but also very excited.
Rihanna performs one of her new hits, “California King Bed,” which is a song about laying next to someone in a California king-sized bed but feeling like “we’re ten thousand miles apart.”
