Don’t hit up Medicare just yet!
Robbie Williams punches a grandma…in a music video.
The 38-year-old British singer sticks it to a granny and a senior citizen male in a violent scene for “Candy,” his comeback solo single, which is also a nostalgic collaboration between Robbie and his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow.
In the video, Robbie is devilishly dressed in a pink suit looking like a piece of harmless cotton candy. Except he’s an invisible guardian angel who goes to physical extremes all in an attempt to protect a beautiful female played by “Skins” actress Kaya Scodelario—one of which is shoving two old people out of the geriatric way.
Robbie does endure some hurt of his own, however—having a piano dropped on him, getting hit by cars, walking into a pane of glass, bursting into flames, getting hit by a car for a second time...just to name a few.
“It’s a summer song, very much in a similar vein to Rock DJ, about a girl who thinks she’s great,” says Robbie to The Sun on the catchy nature of the tune. “Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don’t have to think about it. I don’t know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time. It just did.”
“Candy” is available for purchase on October 29. His ninth studio album Take The Crown follows less than a week later on November 5.
