Robin Thicke’s Paula sold only 530 copies in its first week in the UK. Wow.
Compare that to the 25,000 copies his previous album Blurred Lines sold in first week sales in the UK. Paula entered the UK albums at No. 200 and sold barely 2% of the sales from Blurred Lines.
So what went wrong? Ev-er-y-thing.
First off, the album is a sad, pathetic attempt to get his estranged wife back. The songs are weird and mopey. No one wants to listen or sing along to that.
The PR for the entire album pretty much backfired. Remember #AskThicke from last week? Enough said.
The music videos and performances are even sadder and more pathetic. He has cried and gotten on his knees, pleading to “get his girl back.”
Ugh. I can’t.
