One Direction ain’t got nothing on these guys…
Formed in 1962, as of this year the boys of Rolling Stones have been rocking out for a half-century. As a result of the 50-year anniversary, rumors have sparked that the group will release new material in honor of the rock ‘n’ roll achievement.
A twitpic from frontman Mick Jagger himself has helped fuel the rumors that the group plans to launch a new album soon.
The shot shows Mick sitting a Parisian recording studio, surrounded by instruments with a Fender Strat in his lap. A tag on the pic reads, “Had fun in the Paris studio this week!”
We can only assume that the group – despite its aging members – is still alive and kicking. One does not usually go back to the office in retirement after all… The Stones last album, A Bigger Bang, hit stands in September 2005. If completed, a new album will be group’s 25th studio release.
Even if there’s not new material on the way, there will at least be a tour. At a opening of a photography exhibit titled The Rolling Stone 50, Mick Jagger addressed fans eager to see the “You Got Me Rockin’” performers back together.
“You will definitely be seeing us all together soon,” he said.
He continued, explaining that, so far, the time has flown by…
“I can't believe it's been 50 years,” he said. “We've been hanging out together, seeing quite a bit of each other and we want to do some gigs.”
But, with their oldest member, Charlie Watts, reaching his 70s, the band better hurry up if they want to do any more gigs before they’re all in wheelchairs!
