The Saturdays Announce First US Single with Sean Paul

British-Irish girl group The Saturdays are ready to make their names known every day of the week here in the United States.

The five ladies speak exclusively to Stereotude about their first US single with Sean Paul and gearing up for their US close-up.

“Our first single is coming out over here in the states in January,” says Vanessa White, the youngest band mate. “And it’s called ‘What About Us’ and it features Sean Paul. We just did the video to it, so yeah, we’re really excited.”

“We’re just doing a lot of recording out here [in LA], we’ve been working with loads of people, it’s going really well,” Frankie Sandford adds.

Just recently the girls were heard previewing the pop single—sans Sean—in Hollywood during TigerHeart night at The Avalon, tweeting:

A snippet of the rumored lyrics that could leave us all hooked early 2013:

“What you doing to my head

You should stay with me instead

About those words you said

What about us, us, us, us, us, uh us”

Sounds catchy!

Boy bands from over seas like One Direction and The Wanted have proven to be extremely successful with American audiences, but can the same be true for the ladies? With a pause in girl groups, the US market is more than ready for another Spice Girls, Pussycat Dolls, even a Danity Kane, at this point. Yes, we’re desperate.

With greater global stardom in the band’s sights, it’s not going to their heads. On seeing stars on the red carpet, the girls claim they still get “massively” star struck.

“We’re on the carpet, to be honest, secretly looking out, ‘Oh, is that who that is over there?,’” says Mollie King.
