Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift Perform Together for the First Time

Pop music’s infamous BFF’s Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez performed together last night for the first time ever.

And no, singing along to a Nicki Minaj song while the two girls sat front row of the AMA’s does not count as “dueting.”

Gomez surprised fans by joining Taylor onstage during her sold-out show at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. Coincidentally, this is Taylor’s last stop on her worldwide Speak Now tour.

The girls BFF’d their way through Selena’s hit song, “Who Says?” to which fan girls in the audience sang along and held tight to their besties in a “they’re just like us” – sort of way.

You know, it’s probably really easy to be Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. You just have to point the microphone at the audience and let the fans sing all the words.

At the end of the performance, Taylor Swift called out to her fans, “I would absolutely love it if in 3 seconds you would let Selena Gomez know just how much you love her. Three, Two, One…” and then the fans went wild like someone just announced that Justin Bieber was running shirtless through the audience.

Later in the show, Selena returned to the stage for her final bow and was wearing a T-swift tour t-shirt.

After the performance Selena Tweeted, “Performing at Madison Square Garden with my best friend was a highlight…Congratulations Taylor on Speak Now tour.”

So they are “best friends” now? It’s confirmed? Whatever happened to Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez’s bestfriendship? DRAMA.

Prior to the show, Swift teased twitter fans who the special guests might be, she wrote, “About to hit the stage at Madison Square Garden for our last show on the Speak Now World Tour. Wow.” Then she wrote “and our first special guest for tonight’s show was…” and tweeted a photo of Selena Gomez’s name on the dressing room door.

Swift also had another famous guest during last nights show. Famous rock musician James Taylor stepped onstage for a duet of his song “Fire and Rain” and then played backing guitar for T-Swift’s song “15.” Swift revealed to the audience how her parents named her after James Taylor.

Taylor famously invites guests to all her tour stops and let’s them sing their songs during her show. She’s had guests like Justin Bieber, Usher, T.I, Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida, to name a few.
