Taylor Momsen Wants to be Taken Seriously

Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen is trying desperately to be taken seriously as a musical artist. She's the lead singer of the band The Pretty Reckless, and feels as though she's written off because of her young age.

The 16-year-old actress first landed on the scene after playing the adorable Cindy Lou Who in How The Grinch Stole Christmas--and she feels she still hasn't been able to shake that little girl persona.

We have seen Taylor grow up on the show Gossip Girl, in which she plays a rebellious teen. She tells Seventeen magazine, "I think people don't really take me seriously because I'm 16. And they think most 16 year olds don't know what they want to do. But I actually really do, because I've been thinking about it since I was two... I love working. I'm a workaholic, and no one believes it. I'm in the recording studio until three in the morning."

"I am angsty. I'll be angsty until I'm 80 years old. I think that keeps things fresh. But I always think angst is such a derogatory word toward teenagers. It just means you're figuring s**t out, and I don't know why that's a negative thing."

We're not sure why Taylor is in such a hurry to grow up! She should enjoy these young years. There's so much time ahead of her to worry about what other people think, and as she'll soon realize, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks!
