The newest Kennedy (we can dream) held a Google+ Hangout (possibly the first time anyone’s ever actually done one of those outside a commercial) with fans around the world to announce the release of her new album, titled Red, on October 22nd.
Taylor Swift sat with some fans in a Nashville living room and took questions from them and her webcamming fans around the world.
From the sounds of it, the album is going to be more lovelorn lyrics and twangy guitars. Taylor said that she’d been working on the album for two years, and that she got the album title from...
"…[writing] a song called Red, and thinking about what that means to me and all the different emotions that are written about in this album. Crazy, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I've experienced in the past two years. In my mind, all of those emotions are red. ...There's nothing beige about any of those feelings."
I love the grandma words Taylor uses sometimes. It makes me feel like she’s some relic of the 1950s who’s learning to live in the 00s after being transported here in a freak time-traveling accident.
Swift also released the cover art—an Instagram-looking photo of the singer with bright red lips. And two more promo images—one with the text, “WE ARE NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER,” a single she premiered on the Q&A dedicated to an ex-boyfriend, and another featuring Tay sitting on a very Cape Cod lawn in a very Cape Cod outfit.
As for the possibility of Conor Kennedy making a cameo in a song, we might have to wait until the next album.
