Record-smashing pop songs hath no fury like a Taylor Swift scorned.
The singer-songwriter’s music is known for containing hidden I’ll-always-have-the-last-word meanings for her ex-beaus, so whose heart is the latest Swift-scribed “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” aimed at? Jake Gyllenhaal, apparently.
According to Us Weekly, an insider reports, “It’s definitely about Jake.”
But you didn’t have to listen too hard to figure it out though. Take this tarty lyric, for example, “And you hide away and find your piece of mind / With some indie record that’s much cooler than mine.”
Tay Tay’s gotta be talking about Jake’s iPod here. Dude is obviously a Shins fan.
This just adds the actor’s high school portrait to Swift’s dartboard of passive-aggressive pop hits.
“Dear John” off Speak Now is about the eponymous John Mayer. “Last Kiss” strikes Joe Jonas where it hurts. And “Back to December” about Taylor Lautner. With Jake inaugurated as its latest member, these guys could start a boy band of their own.
