Rapper T.I. may be getting out of the big house early! He’s currently serving a one-year prison term after pleading guilty to illegal firearms possession and possessing a gun as a convicted felon.
And now a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson says the rapper could be eligible for release to a halfway house, where he could serve out the rest of his term, as early as January.
They released a statement to MTV News, saying, "If his full-term release date is in March, it's not uncommon for an individual to be released to a halfway house to serve out the last portion of their federal sentence. There are a number of factors that need to be considered: if the person is not a danger to the community, the current offense, the individual's prior criminal history, the availability of programs and space availability."
This is good news for T.I.’s fiancé Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, who said she’s expecting him to be home soon because he’s on such good behavior. "I talk to him every day, sometimes a couple times a day," said Tiny. "And I see him every weekend on Sundays, sometimes on Monday. He's doing real good and he's ready to come on home.”
We’re sure he’ll be relieved! But do you think it’s fair that he may be released after just a few months? Keep in mind, the reason he was arrested was because he was attempting to receive machine guns and silencers from his bodyguard, who had illegally purchased the weapons from undercover officers. That’s a serious offense!
