A usually private man, who is only known by his music video persona, Timbaland opens up for the first time in a very revealing edition of E!'s True Hollywood story, which aired last night.
"I'm not covering up sh-t. The truth shall set me free," says Timbaland.
To be completely honest, this is the first time I've heard Timbaland's speaking voice, other than his auto-tuned chanting on any Justin Timberlake track. "OOhhh" "Timbaa" "Heyoooo"
He admits to have been in love with Aaliyah and also opens up about suicidal thoughts due to being overweight.
Timbaland and Aaliyah worked on her biggest hits during the 90's and Timbaland said he had a hard time not letting himself fall in love with her, "When I first met Aaliyah, I was in love with her. I said, 'But I'm not...she just a baby [and] I'm old," admits Timbaland, "I said to myself, 'I'm just gonna be her brother.' Oh man, I was fightin', I was fightin' a lot - a big war. I loved Aaliyah."
Timbaland was only 8 years older than Aaliyah, she probably wouldn't have minded, she did sing, "Age 'Aint Nothing But A Number." The proof is in the...song title.
However, Timbaland moved on and met his current wife, Monique. "It's probably hard to be married to me," he says, "It's not easy. I'm a musical genius. I'm weird, I do crazy things, it's not like the average norm. But I'm a loving guy."
Love that Timbaland just self-described as a "musical genius." Hey Timbaland, Lady Gaga called and said she wants her title back.
Timbaland also admits to struggling with his weight, "I'm looking in the mirror, my breast is bigger than a girl breast," he says, "And I was saying,'That ain't cool.' So I got very depressed, like suicidal depressed."
But this one time TV special is all he'll divulge about himself, "This will be the last time I talk, and then I go back in hibernation."
