No, it isn’t Usher… It isn’t Rihanna, either… Six-time Grammy winner Toni Braxton is topping the dance charts this week.
The artist beat out fellow top recording artists for the spot. Her new track “I Heart You” is number one on the Billboard Dance charts.
Braxton’s new single is her first installment since her sixth studio album Pulse in 2010, which debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. “I Heart You” is from her upcoming album Heartstrings & Synagogue Vibes.
The song was produced by Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis and features an upbeat, forward-driving and electro sound. Her signature deep vocals soar over thumping beats.
Following in Braxton’s tracks are Martin Solveig’s “the Night Out” at number two and Usher’s “Climax” at number three. Rounding out the top five are Eva Simons and Rita Ora.
According to Braxton, she had the club in mind from start to finish on the track.
"When I wrote this song, I was thinking about the feeling you get when you walk into a club and you hear the melody; you feel the beat, and you just know it's going to be a good night," she told the Huffington Post.
Braxton promises fans that the new album will follow in her standard level of excellence. Though, she admits, she couldn’t help but try to push the envelop a little bit.
“In the past there were slow songs that we made dance songs. These dance songs will be dance songs,” she said. “I'm going to be a little more freelance with my sexiness.”
The Maryland native has sold over 60 million records worldwide.
In addition to her music career, Braxton has starred on Broadway as the first black actress to portray Belle in “Beauty and The Beast,” as well as her popular role in the hit “Aida.” Her reality show “Braxton Family Values” is the most popular reality show in the history of WeTV.
