Proving that one can never do enough for youth charities, U2 has just donated $7 million dollars to the National Music Program for Young People.
The Ireland Funds, an international organization that raises funds for causes in Ireland, will help manage the money and raise an additional $3 million for the program, known as the Music Network, it said in an e-mailed statement today.
U2 guitarist the Edge said, "Being around music at a young age was important for us and we were lucky to have it at school. We had been looking for some time for a way to get involved in an initiative in music education in Ireland.
"After talking to various people in Ireland about what to do, we came to the conclusion that the Music Network scheme is really well thought out and that we, in partnership with the Ireland Funds, should just get behind it."
U2 has donated millions and millions to deserving charities over the past few years, so this doesn't surprise us one bit. What a great charity to get involved with!
