Don’t go finalizing your “best of” Usher playlists just yet.
As an extra special Valentine’s Day treat, the R&B artist has hand-delivered a delicately packaged new song that will serve as a bonus track on his album Looking 4 Myself, released in June 2012.
“Go Missin’” is a collaboration between Usher and Diplo, the tag team that brought you “Climax,” which served as the wildly successful sex anthem of 2012.
Present are Usher’s signature falsettos and seducing lyrics that attempt to persuade a woman into his bedroom, even if that means ignoring that voice in her head
“telling you shouldn't go…”
With its blend of Ushers’ distant coos, a muted beat and effects, the track could serve as a predecessor for what’s to come for 2013, at least according to Diplo.
The producer recently gave an interview with Rolling Stone, saying that genre unification will be a tendency for the next 365 days.
“I think 2013 is going to be all about musical fusion – everybody coming together,” he said. “All the lines have been crossed the last year, so I'm glad to be part of that,"
Embodying this movement, said Diplo, is the new album Free the Universe, a product of his electrofusion project, Major Lazer.
Collaborators on the tracklist range from Bruno Mars, to Flux Pavillian, to Vampire Weekend… The album is due out Feb. 19.
