The boys of the The Wanted must be living a dream. One minute they were a pop group from the UK and now they cannot walk down a US street without hordes of screaming fans yelling “I'm Glad You Came” at them.
The whirlwind success of The Wanted over here in the states is as crazy to them as it is for us to watch, the boys told Stereotude at the Grand Opening of Robert Earl's Planet Dailies/Mixology event, “We're not sure what's happening with our lives at the moment but it feels pretty cool.”
It's been nearly a decade since the heyday of boy bands like 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and 98 Degrees, so why the sudden resurgence in boy bands like The Wanted and One Direction? And why are they both from the UK?
Max George of The Wanted tries to explain it to us:
“Boy bands have been around for a long time and we've just came in and the song just connected,” says George.
Not only is The Wanted heating up American charts, but they're proud of their colleagues One Direction.
“One Direction is doing really well and smashing it with their album,” adds George, “Everything just feels really great, it was just the right time, right place, right time for both of us. We are just really delighted.”
