Beyonce is the closest thing our generation has to a performer who even comes close to the talent of Whitney Houston, and the new mom and superstar performer has paid tribute to the artist, remembering the first time they met, when Beyonce was only 15 years old.
“The loss of Whitney Houston is painful,” Beyonce tells MTV, “I remember meeting Whitney for the first time when I was 15. She was the ultimate legend. The ultimate woman.”
In the statement, Beyonce gives the highest praise to Houston, “Not only was she confident, poised, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, but she was sincere and kind. She took the time to make everyone feel like they were very important to her.”
“I, like every singer, always wanted to be just like her. Her voice was perfect. Strong but soothing. Soulful and classic,” Beyonce adds to the statement.
Jennifer Hudson performed a fitting tribute to the singer last night at the Grammys, and like everyone, Beyonce is devastated by the loss. There isn’t a singer alive whose musical style and dream wasn’t influenced by Whitney Houston.
“Her vibrato, her cadence, her control. So many of my life’s memories are attached to a Whitney Houston song,” says Beyonce, “She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us. God bless her.”
