Get to know DJ Whoo Kid:
Take us through your day, starting from when you wake up.
I wake up at 7am and listen through all the new music sent to me by the rappers and singers I work with. I see what I like and then add that music to my playlist for the day. I spend a lot of time calling publicists of my scheduled guest to make sure they arrive on time for their interviews haha because most times- they don’t! If I’m working on a mixtape with any artists or any remixes at that time, I’ll work on that during my day as well.
Best part of your job?
Best part about my job is getting the movie star or singer to unwind and go crazy on my show. Sometimes they forget to promote what they came to promote because they are having too much fun. My show is more of a hangout than a traditional interview… I like to get to the core of the artist and make them feel comfortable enough to share things with me that they wouldn’t share with other hosts.
When did you get your big break?
I got my big break from being a host on Hot 97 NYC on Monday nights. Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg heard my show and asked me to join him in his new venture with SIRIUSXM --- SHADE 45…the rest is sort of history.
What is your high school make-out song?
My high school make out song was "Doin' It" by LL Cool J.
Where would you like to see yourself in five years?
In five years I hope my radio show is still as successful as it is now. Currently I have 5 million listeners weekly. I would love to triple that number! I also want to do more TV so ideally you’ll see me hosting on TV.
