Right when I was about to ask will.i.am “will.u.go.away?”, Britney Spears pulls him back from Mars into the musical conversation.
The newly minted “X Factor” has enlisted the help from the Black Eyed Peas member, sources confirm to TV Guide magazine.
Spears and will.i.am already have a relationship in music, having recently gotten together to record a track called “Sexy Sexy” for his new solo album called #willpower which will be released on October 15.
How will the singer, futuristic entertainer, and record producer fit into the reality TV singing competition’s format?
will.i.am will appear as a mentor for Britney’s team of contestants during the judge’s Home round of the upcoming season. It’s rumored that Brit Brit will coach singers in the prime 17–24 age range, which is when the singer was at her highest peak and can offer much expertise and insight on.
Though we’ll know all this for sure once X Factor makes its premiere tonight at 8/7c on Fox.
The B.E.P. head honcho has a seasoned repertoire on these type of search-for-stardom singing shows. He’s already lent his industry wisdom to The Voice (UK) as a coach and American Idol as a guest judge. In other full circle news, he also is the manager of former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole from the series’ first season.
This is the latest duo to join other previously announced mentor/judge BFFs—Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, L.A. Reid and Justin Beiber, and Simon Cowell and Marc Anthony.
Disney’s Demi is rumored to oversee the kids 12–16 bracket, L.A. will manage the ages 25+ vocalists, and Simon will handle the groups.
