Will.i.am on BEPs Break: We're Doing Our Own Thing Right Now

You may know Will.i.am as the producer and member of the Black Eyes Peas, but you'd be surprised to learn about everything else he does.

He launched his first TV special this weekend, he's managing former X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole, and taking a break from Black Eyed Peas.

Hollyscoop caught up with Will.i.am about everything he's working on and addresses the rumors about Black Eyed Peas taking an indefinite break.

"Yeah we're taking a break. Sometimes after you run a marathon, you've got to take a break. We've been running this marathon since 2003. That's almost ten years.”

Most people don't know that before Fergie joined the Black Eyed Peas, the rest of the band had been together since the 90's. "With me Apl.De.Ap and Taboo, its been since 1995," says Will.

Will.i.am says that taking a break only means he has more time to explore his many other artistic endeavors. "Now we are going to go off and do individual things, family time and other passions."

One of those "other passions" is his love of science. Don't believe me? It's true. This weekend, Will.i.am launched his first TV special called "i.am.FIRST - Science is Rock and Roll", which was an hour special on ABC that he funded himself to celebrate high school students competing in robotics competitions around the world.

"It's my first TV show I've ever done. I'm proud of it," Will.i.am tells HS. "That's what this show is about, the fusion of a science fair, a concert and a documentary." The show featured video feed from Barack Obama and performances by the Peas and Willow Smith.

Will.i.am is always pushing boundaries, whether it's in music or science, this guy can do it all. Remember when he became the first ever TV hologram with his "appearance" on CNN during the 2008 election?

So when he's not working on music with the peas or launching science competitions, he's managing the career of Cheryl Cole, the UK singer and former judge of X-Factor, "We're working on new music and just switching it up from how she's done it in the past. She's a great artist, she's a great person, she cares about lots of things so philanthropy is one of the things you are going to see from Cheryl Cole in the future."

Not only is he fostering Cole's career, he's got solo music projects of his own, "I'm working on a couple of solo projects at the same time...You don't stop creating, like I don't stop thinking of ideas. I got a couple of projects coming out."

Truly a jack-of-all-trades, what can't Will.i.am do? I guess we should start calling him a "will of all trades"? No?
