To expect a lot from the girl who made Simon Cowell publicly admit he'd “royally screwed up” after eliminating her from the X-Factor and run down to Florida to bring her back is understandable. But even with expectations as high as they were for Melanie Amaro's first single, she still managed to shatter them with “Don't Fail Me Now.”
Written by Livvi Franc and produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, who's worked with Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, the song mirror's Melanie's rise from a small Florida town to the national stage, and showcases the power and perfect pitch of her voice that won her millions of fans as an X-Factor contestant and American X-Factor's first winner.
L.A. Reid, her ex-judge and new boss at Epic Records, is obviously excited to have her: “I am really proud to have Melanie Amaro on the Epic Records roster. As the winner of the first season of The X Factor she is a proven champion who is destined for success.”
It's not just Cowell and Reid who are impressed, though-Elton John, who played a hard-to-please Simonesque king to Melanie's singing rogue in one of this year's best Super Bowl commercials, said “She's got the personality [fitting] of a great live artist. She oozes personality…you can see it just by talking to her. She's cheeky…she's fun.”
