The latest in Christina Aguilera's career was full bloomin’ on Twitter yesterday.
She took to her social media account to announce the name of her forthcoming album. The title? Lotus. She also revealed that it will hit stores this November, just in time for the holidays.
The album title represents “an unbreakable flower that survives under the hardest conditions and still thrives,” the singer tweeted in an answer to a fan. “There will be a ‘Lotus’ intro to set the tone for the whole record. Conceptually I didn’t target one particular sound/genre. Self expression and freedom. The album represents a rebirth for me.”
The lead single “Your Body,” which leaked last month, will be officially released tomorrow. Already released is the club song’s cover art, which features the soulful vocalist wrapped in a soft sheer pink veil of fabric channeling the petal of a desert flower.
For die-hard fans who’ve already heard it, it’s not indicative of the rest of the album. Get excited for those much slower, much more intimate tunes akin to “Beautiful,” “Hurt,” and “Mercy On Me.”
“There are some beautiful personal ballads on this album. I wouldn’t do a record without them,” Christina confirms.
The music video for the song is set to premiere during Monday’s episode of “The Voice." Shot just last month, the video is directed by 2012’s Video Music Award of the Year-winning “We Found Love” director Melina Matsoukas.
This will be Christina’s first album release since Bionic in 2010.
